Which chapter in the new edition did you enjoy the most? I particularly relished writing the new chapter on the Art of Modelling, as it allowed me to share some of my personal views and experiences with MBSE and its application. This chapter delves into how to achieve the greatest benefit through the art of modelling, covering topics such as the philosophy of modelling, model versus modelling, strategies for practical modelling, and inspiring confidence in models.

What's new in this second edition? Two new chapters have been added, and existing chapters have been updated. We've included additional content on how to deploy MBSE into an organization and the necessary steps for an effective MBSE implementation. Furthermore, the book provides insights into the author's personal thinking and views on MBSE and its implementation.

What are the key takeaways from your book? The book covers the fundamentals of MBSE - what it is and what it isn't. It also explores the key MBSE enablers, such as notations, tools, views, frameworks, ontologies, process sets, and standards. An example MBSE framework is built up throughout the book, and readers are given advice on where to go next in their MBSE journey.

Readers will gain a deep understanding of the three evils of systems engineering and the ability to deploy MBSE using the Trinity approach. They will also receive invaluable information about the philosophy of modelling from a seasoned professional, as well as an understanding of life cycles and how they control the evolution of a system. Additionally, readers will be able to explore processes and related concepts, such as activities, stakeholders, and resources, and discover how needs fit into the systems life cycle and which processes are relevant and how to comply with them. This book provides a comprehensive, big-picture view of MBSE, rather than focusing solely on smaller elements, such as the notation associated with MBSE. The book includes updates to methodologies, including linear, agile, spiral, and incremental approaches, as well as new topics such as deploying MBSE and the art of modelling. Additionally, the concepts and processes covered in the book have been thoroughly updated.
